Vanilla Cupcakes

Here is also another recipe when i was reading Cakes & Sugarcraft Magazine, Autumn 2010.

Vanilla Cupcakes

Ingredients

Makes 12-15 large cupcakes, adapted from Cakes & Sugarcraft Magazine, Autumn 2010, Children's Seaside Project

115gm (4oz) margarine
115gm (4oz) caster sugar
2 large eggs
vanilla essence
115gm (4oz) self raising flour

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 180 degree celsius.
2. Allow the margarine to soften, then place into the mixing bowl with the sugar, beat with a wooden spoon until the mixture is light and fluffy.
3. Beat the eggs with a fork, then gradually add them to the mixture, beating consistently to prevent the mixture from curdling. Once all of the eggs has been added, add the vanilla essence.
4. Sift the flour over the mixture and fold in gently with a metal spoon, making sure all of the flour is combined without knocking the air out of the mixture.
5. Place mixture into cupcake case until they are 3/4 full.
6. Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes. When the cakes are golden and firm to the touch, carefully remove from the oven, and leave it to cool.

One-minute Muffins

Do you know muffins can be made from ICE CREAMS?

HOW?

The main ingredients of ice cream are eggs, sugar, and some kind of fat. So by adding some flour into ice cream "batter", we are all set making muffins at their simplest.

Use a tablespoon to measure the ice cream if you don't have an ice cream scoop.

This recipe makes 6-8 muffins.

ONE-MINUTE MUFFINS
Recipes extracted from Eating & Cheating by Gill Holcombe (Hodder & Stoughton)

Ingredients:

1. 6 scoops of ice cream
2. 6 tbsp self raising flour
3. Sugar sprinkles (optional)

Method:

1. Put the right amount of ice cream in a mixing bowl and leave to soften.
2. Meanwhile preheat the oven 190 degree Celsius, and put paper muffin cases on a baking tray.
3. Beat the ice cream with a wooden spoon until it's really soft and runny, then sift in the flour and stir enough to mix it in.
4. Spoon the mixture into muffin cases, top with sugar sprinkles (if used), and then bake for 10-12 minutes until the cakes risen and golden.

Tattoo and cupcakes

This is "Pull Apart Chocolate Cuppies with Fresh Lemon Buttercream" did for a brother for his company product launch.

So exactly what's this got to do with the word "tattoo" you ask?

One technique in common between these cake decor and tattoo-ing is that these two different world, uses "Pattern Transfer", which is a very common technique, and is widely used by the tattoo artists.

Its usage is simple and straight forward. Basically you traced a pattern or a piece of art onto the tracing paper, then the traced art work will then transfered onto the desired canvas (skin or cake for that matter).

So, if you looked closely at the photo cupcakes i have captured above, this is the first time i am applying this technique onto cake decoration, and am quite happy with the end results.

I am beginning to itch, to try my hands on doing a Japanese floral art work, calligraphic type.

Thanks for viewing.

Steamed Choco Cuppies with logo picks

One final post for May 2009. I have got a surprise cuppies order. Steamed Choco Cuppies, which supposedly and initially was just an experiment to test out the silicone ware. I ended up saying YES,accepted the order, and bought 2 sets of silicone ware, in cuppies shape. I am loving this product...

As i slowly progress and brave myself to accept more big orders, i thank God for His blessings. How He especially blesses me with the strength, patience, talent, and joy while doing all sorts of preparation to get the orders fulfilled.

My mind kept on feeding me with all sorts of obstacle ideas, while my heart kept on telling me to do otherwise...

Accepting orders is not as easy as it seems, as alot of aspect needs to be taken care of, so that the end product satisfy both the customer and the critic in me. Sketches of cake designs, sourcing for ingredients, budgeting, marketing, and the "CLOSE-the-SALE-IN-CONFIDENCE" has lead me to open up my eyes to possibilities, where i never laid my eyes on before.

Having to juggle my current serious day job with my nightly effervescent "cakey" persona, the word "time management" has really brought a whole new meaning to my life, now...

Enjoy the photos. I like taking macro shots. I once visualised myself being an ant in a blown up strawberry farm.
